About B. Freeth Studio

Hi. I’m Belinda.

I create nature art in a coastal Southern California city. I have always been inspired by nature and our intrinsic relationship to it. I hope my art exposes the beauty and small details of nature that can sometimes be overlooked. I do have a fascination with birds in particular. Their behavioral intelligence and beauty are mind-boggling, while also providing amazing color opportunities.

I use colored pencils on 100% cotton, acid-free, museum-grade paper to create my artwork. Prints available in my shop are printed on a similar paper with beautiful results. Lately, I've been driven to create large-scale works. Stay tuned for that.

I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. My parents were very encouraging in that way. My father had a deep love of nature. Growing up, my siblings and I had a constant parade of various pets to observe and care for. We lived in a suburb that was transitioning away from its rural roots. It was not uncommon for neighborhood friends to have horses, chickens, goats and sheep. I recall one home that housed two river otters. Today, I share my art studio with a small Red-Bellied parrot (Poicephalus rufiventris).

After a long career as a graphic designer, I now find myself with two adult children and a deep passion to create some beautiful works of art. I am more excited about my art journey with each new piece, usually having about three or more in the works at any given time.
